LNK Scanner is an independent digital news outlet covering breaking news incidents across Lincoln, Nebraska.Created in 2020, LNK Scanner was born out of a need for faster, more transparent local reporting. Scanner-based coverage allows us to surface emergency activity that often goes unreported helping the public stay informed about what’s happening across their city as it unfolds.Over the years, we’ve grown significantly. What began as simple scanner monitoring has evolved into occasional on-scene coverage, powered by better tools and an increasing flow of trusted community tips. We've learned a lot since we started and continue to refine how we report incidents as they happen.Who We AreLNK Scanner is operated anonymously by a small team based in Lincoln.
Most of us work full-time jobs or are full-time students but we’re united by a shared goal: keeping Lincoln informed. We stay anonymous to help maintain independence and keep the focus on the work—not the individuals behind it. That said, many people have seen us out on scenes. What We CoverOur focus is on major public safety incidents in Lincoln, things like shootings, stabbings, SWAT activity, structure fires, serious traffic crashes, and other police or emergency responses.Occasionally, we’ll also report on topics like local government, public schools, or community sports—especially when we believe the information serves a broader public interest. We’ll be the first to admit: we’re not built for long-term follow-ups or deep-dive investigations—at least not yet. That’s a future goal. Right now, our small team isn’t able to track every story after it breaks. That’s why we always encourage people to follow traditional local news outlets for full coverage. Still, we take pride in knowing that every major outlet in Lincoln has used or credited our content at some point—and in some cases, we've even collaborated to expand the city’s coverage. How You Can HelpLNK Scanner thrives on community awareness and support. If you see something happening or just want to know more about a developing situation, you’re always encouraged to reach out. While we may not be able to cover every incident, we’ll do our best to find and share what we can.You can support our work by submitting tips, sharing our posts, spreading the word, or donating to help cover the cost of tools, time, and equipment. Every message and contribution makes a difference and helps us keep Lincoln informed.
